Our Current Offer
(Christmas 2006)
Special Selection Christmas
2006 ($200)
Gunn Estate
2006 Pinot Gris ($13)
An understated nose with a Melon dominant
character but with hints of paw paw, pineapple
and other exotic, oily tropical fruits
on the palate. It has ripe, round understated
fruit, with a wonderful "shape"
in the mouth. It tastes very low in acid
and is terrific with food, luscious and
yummy.

The Growers
Verdelho
($15)
A delightful, aromatic dry white, which
is ideal summer lunch drinking (or even
winter dinner drinking, not looking at
anyone Kate D!)

Primo Estate
2004 'Il Briccone' Shiraz-Sangiovese ($20)
A light-to-medium bodied wine, but with
terrific fruit and varietal character.
Ideal with something off the Barbie, or
a casual bowl of pasta.
Reminiscent of the Dogajolo and Coriole
Conrour 4, for those who remember previous
mixed dozens.

All Saints
"Estate" 2004 Durif
($24)
Great licorice nose, with dark and ripe
berry flavours and wonderful balance.
Although Durif has a reputation for being
big, heavy and unapproachable in its youth,
this is certainly able to be drunk now
although it does have a very rich finish.
Will cellar beautifully for quite some
time to come.

Mayfield
2005 Pinot Noir (Single Vineyard - Orange
Region)
($25)
Bright red fruits, with slightly stewed
undercurrents and undergrowthy Burgundian
elements. Red currants, earthy good tannins,
slight charry oak, and an unfiltered texture.
Good elements of classic Burgundy style.
Slightly lacking in power if you wanted
to be really critical.

De Iuliis
2005 Show Reserve Shiraz
($25)
Rich,
plummy nose. Medium bodied, with strong,
red berry middle, and lovely finish. Drinking
very well now, with easily another 5 to
8 years ahead of it.

"Super Premium"
Wines
Centenary
Hill 1999 Shiraz ($35)
Amazing! This is a current
release wine, and its 7 years of bottle age have
it drinking at its absolute best now, and for
the next 6 - 12 months. This will definitely be
on my table come Christmas day. It almost gives
you the Christmas pudding range of fruit flavours
before you even get to dessert. (6-pack)
All Saints Estate "Family
Reserve" Durif ($49)
I didn't know that Durif
could get much better than the Estate wine (at
left), until I tried this. A seriously made wine,
with amazing intensity and depth. A terrific "investment"
for the serious wine buff.
Auction boxes: Looking
for something different? These are mixed cases
of "interesting" stuff I've bought at
auction recently. No tasting notes, because sometimes
thery are single bottles. A test of trust! Usually
quite a bit less than current release prices,
but no guarantee as to provenance or condition.
Limited stocks. $180 - $280
